PM Modi delivering his speech in Parliament on Constitution Day, takes a dig at the Congress, National Conference.

"Constitutional spirit is hurt when political parties lose their democratic character. Look at dynastic political parties from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, this is against the democratic spirit. Dynastic parties are matter of concern to people committed to Constitution.

"If a party is run for generations by a family and entire party system is with a family then that is biggest problem for healthy democracy."

Constitution Day is celebrated in the Central Hall of the Parliament

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and others are taking part in the event.

"Party for the family, by the family... do I need to say more? If a party is run by one family for many generations, then, it isn't good for a healthy democracy," said PM Modi in the Central Hall of Parliament.

"The spirit of the Constitution has also been hurt, every section of the Constitution has also been hurt, when political parties lose their democratic character in themselves. How can the parties which have lost their democratic character protect democracy?" asked the Prime Minister.
