The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to place a plan before it indicating how it will allocate 700 MT oxygen to Delhi. The court has asked the Centre to submit the plan by 10:30 am tomorrow.

The Centre and state governments are doing their best amid the oxygen crisis and it is pointless to jail officials for contempt, the Supreme Court said today while hearing the central government's plea against a Delhi High Court order.

The Supreme Court also recommended that the Centre take notes from the "Mumbai model" to try and ensure oxygen supplies to Delhi.

The hearing began in the afternoon today after the Centre moved the Supreme Court against the lower court's threat to pursue contempt charges against officials for non-compliance of an earlier order.

Chief Justice NV Ramana had placed the matter before a bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah.
