7.1 magnitude quake strikes in New Zealand

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 was reported near Auckland, New Zealand on Thursday evening, according to India's National Center for Seismology.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 414 km east of Auckland, New Zealand, the agency said. The earthquake struck at 6:57 pm IST at a depth of 10 km from the surface.
