Congress chief Sonia Gandhi tells party general secretaries to work to address vaccine hesitancy, ensure vaccine wastage is minimised. She says the daily vaccination rate has to treble so that 75% of the population gets fully vaccinated by year-end.

The Union Health Ministry today said more than 30 crores (30,33,27,440) vaccine doses have been provided by the Centre to States/UTs so far. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 28,43,40,936 doses as per data available at 8 am today.

"No doubt, this is dependent entirely on the adequacy of vaccine supply. We must continue to put pressure on the Union government which has, at our party's insistence, finally taken on the responsibility for this," Gandhi said. "At the same time, we have to ensure that registration takes place, that vaccine hesitancy wherever evident is overcome and vaccine wastage is minimised," she said addressing the party leaders virtually.
