Twitter restores blue tick on Naidu's account

Twitter has restored the blue tick or "verified" badge on the personal handle of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu hours after it was dropped, prompting India to flag the verification removal to the social media giant.

As India flagged the blue tick removal from the personal account of M Venkaiah Naidu, Twitter said it was done due to a long gap in login.

Officials of the Vice President Secretariat said the personal Twitter handle of Naidu @MVenkaiahNaidu was inactive for a long time and the Twitter algorithm removed the blue badge. The last tweet posted from the personal handle was on July 23 last year.

While the blue tick from Venkaiah Naidu's personal Twitter handle was dropped, the official handle of the Vice President of India, @VPSecretariat, which has 9.3 lakh followers, continued to have the blue badge. Venkaiah Naidu's personal Twitter handle has over 13 lakh followers.
