West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee at a press conference in New Delhi said the Pegasus snooping is very serious. "It is more serious than Emergency," the CM said as the Monsoon session of Parliament continues to be disrupted over the issue.

On being asked if she was the face of the opposition, Mamata Banerjee retorted, "I am not a political astrologer, depends on situation. I have no problem if someone else leads.

"I am a simple worker, want to continue as a worker, she said."

The phone number of her nephew, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, was part of the alleged list of potential surveillance targets. Banerjee has claimed that her phone has also been hacked and she has been unable to speak to anyone.
