Uttarakhand govt disallows Kanwar Yatra

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami says there will be no Kanwar Yatra in the state. "Keeping the lives of everyone on priority, we have cancelled the Kanwar Yatra. Protection of people's lives comes first for us.

"We have stopped it in our state," says the CM on UP Govt's decision to allow the Yatra.

The Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the UP government's decision to allow the yatra. It fixed July 16 for the matter to be heard next, pointing out that it is necessary to fix a short time period for this case as the Yatra is set to take off from July 25.
