The Vatican today said Pope Francis and ex-pope Benedict have received the coronavirus vaccines. "I can confirm that as part of the Vatican City State vaccination programme to date, the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine has been administered to Pope Francis and the Pope Emeritus," spokesman Matteo Bruni said.
The announcement came a day after The Vatican, the worlds smallest state, began its own ambitious COVID-19 vaccination programme.
A statement said the programme started in the atrium of the large audience hall that is normally used for papal audiences.
