India, Russia hold 2+2 defence dialogue

The two leaders will take part in the first 2+2 ministerial dialogue between India and Russia today.

"India and Russia relations are time-tested, based on a common interest in multilateralism, global peace, prosperity and mutual understanding and trust," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says in his opening remarks during the meeting with Russian Defence Minister General Sergey Shoigu.

"The annual India-Russia Summit today in the emerging geopolitical circumstances once again reconfirm the critical importance of special strategic partnership between our countries. 

"Defence cooperation is one of the most important pillars of our partnership. I hope the India-Russia partnership will bring peace to the entire region and provide stability to the region," Singh said.
