Farmers in Punjab stopped actor Kangana Ranaut's car near Ropar and demanded she apologise over her statements on the farmers' protest. "If the security personnel were not present here, lynching would have happened. Shame on these people," Ranaut said.

Ranaut had shared a tweet on November 27, alleging that the "Shaheen Bagh dadi" also joined the farmers' agitation over the new laws at various border points of the national capital.

She retweeted the post with pictures of two elderly women, including Bilkis Bano, and wrote that the "same Dadi" who featured in Time Magazine was "available in 100 rupees", a comment that has particularly irked the members of the Punjabi community.

She has also repeatedly called the Sikhs protesting at the sites, anti-nationals, Khalistanis and terrorists.

"I have been surrounded by a mob here. They are abusing me and threatening to kill me. Am I a politician? What is this behaviour, it is unbelievable," she said in a video posted on her Instagram stories.

The video also shows her trying to talk to the farmers surrounding her car.
