A dirt track is being made into a tarmac road only because of a young woman's Olympics feat.

Construction work is underway on the road to boxer Lovlina Borgohain's residence in Golaghat district ahead of her semi-final bout in the Tokyo Olympics later today. "This road is built after many years. I pray for her victory.  People are hoping for her win," says a local.

Lovlina Borgohain will be in pursuit of history when she takes on reigning World champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the Olympics boxing 67 kg semi-finals, in Tokyo shortly.

Borgohain has shown remarkable composure for a debutant at the sport's biggest extravaganza. And it is this poise that might do the trick for her against the imposing opponent from Turkey, who is top seeded in the draw.

Surmeneli is also 23 and has collected two gold medals this year internationally.
