Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday blamed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the violence that erupted during the fourth phase of polling in Cooch Behar saying that she had incited the people against the Central forces.

Violence erupted at a polling booth in Cooch Behar during the fourth round of polling. Trinamool Congress alleged that Central Forces opened fire twice at polling booths in Cooch Behar where people are casting their votes, killing four party workers.

However, the Election Commission has given a clean cheat to the central forces saying that they opened fire in self-defence.

Accusing the ruling Trinamool Congress of doing dirty politics over the incident, Shah said that the Central Industrial Security Force fired in its self-defence.
