Ex-Bihar DGP Pandey to join JD-U today

Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey will be joining Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United at a ceremony at 1 pm on Saturday. This comes days after Gupteshwar Pandey took voluntary retirement from services and triggered speculation of contesting the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

IPS officer Gupteshwar Pandey, who has been at the centre of the controversy surrounding investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, sparked rumours of joining politics by announcing his retirement.

Gupteshwar Pandey has been a vocal supporter of Nitish Kumar and was criticised over his sexist remarks on actor Rhea Chakraborty.

On Tuesday night, Gupteshwar Pandey hogged media limelight by announcing his retirement and triggered rumours. He further fuelled the speculation by saying "I am a free man now, can do anything".
