India's COVID caseload surges over 53 lakh

India continued to register a higher number of Covid-19 infection cases.

The Covid-19 tally jumped to 5,308,014 after registering over 93,3300 cases in a day. The death toll reached 85, 619 as 1,247 people succumbed to the disease.

The number of active cases stood at 1,013,964.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the infection increased by 0.7 per cent as compared with the same time Thursday to 6.7 million, Bloomberg reported citing data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
