Delhi police file 17,500-page riots chargesheet

The Delhi police have named 15 people in a chargesheet filed over the Delhi riots that raged through the capital city in February this year, leaving more than 50 people dead and property worth crores damaged.
The 17,500-page filing includes more than 2,600 pages detailing the charges against the accused and thousands of pages of annexures. 

Charges against the accused include those under the tough anti-terror Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.Delhi Police Special Cell files charge sheet against 15 accused in riots case under sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, IPC and Arms Act. 

The charge sheet filed today does not have names of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam as accused. As they were arrested a few days ago, their names will be in the supplementary charge sheet. 

Evidence includes WhatsApp chats of February 24, the time when riots were taking place. Key conspirators were guiding foot soldiers. At least 25 WhatsApp groups were specially created for each site; police have identified each group and its role.
