India Covid tally tops 80 lakh, 49.8k new cases

India records 49,881 new COVID-19 cases, 517 fatalities in 24 hours, taking virus caseload to 80,40,203 and the death toll to 1,20,527, said the government.

Active COVID-19 cases in country stand at 6,03,687 while 73,15,989 people have recovered so far, said the Union health ministry.

Meanwhile, total 10,65,63,440 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to October 28. Of these 10,75,760 samples were tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research. -- PTI/ANI
