The Election Commission of India has ordered the immediate removal of the SP and District Magistrate of Munger. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident which has to be completed with the next seven days.

The new DM and SP will be posted in Munger today itself.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons cause arson at SDO and SP office in Munger, setting several vehicles on fire and damaging the office. The mob was protesting against a man's death during a firing incident on October 26 at the time of the immersion of Goddess Durga. The mob demanded action against Munger Superintendent of Police and the SDO.

The Munger incident happened late Monday night at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Chowk under the Kotwali police station limits of the city. While people alleged the young man, who was in his early 20s, died in police firing, the administration said he was hit by a bullet fired by somebody from among the crowd. The opposition attack on the ruling party is apparently based on the fact that Munger Superintendent of Police Lipi Singh is the daughter of R C P Singh, the Janata Dal-United leader in the Rajya Sabha.
