PNB Case: Nirav Modi's bail rejected in UK court

In a major setback to the fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, the UK court yet again rejected Modi's bail plea on Monday.

Earlier this month, the UK court extended the remand of Modi till the next scheduled hearing in his ongoing extradition trial on November 3. Last month, Modi's legal counsel told the UK Court that Nirav Modi is unlikely to get a fair trial in India due to the politicisation of his case and that he faces a "high risk of suicide" due to the lack of adequate medical facilities in Indian prisons.

The 49-year-old jeweller is wanted in India on charges of fraud and money laundering in the estimated $2 billion Punjab National Bank scam.
