Shivraj to move SC over ban on rallies in MP

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj S Chouhan to move the Supreme Court: "We'll be going to Supreme Court against the order of Gwalior bench of Madhya Pradesh HC that restricts political rallies in the state. Political rallies being held in Bihar every day, there can't be such contradicting legislation in one country."

The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court on Tuesday had restrained district magistrates in 9 districts from giving permission to any political party or its candidate for any physical public meeting irrespective of its size if there is a possibility of a virtual election campaign.

The court which had been displeased by the conduct of political parties and candidates for assembly bypoll campaign, observed that right to health and life of a common man is comparatively more exalted, sacred and precious compared to the right to canvassing and campaigning for a candidate.
