Modi: "Bengali is such a sweet language, and I know my pronunciation is not up to the mark. But I could not resist trying to speak it. Forgive my mistakes. I end my speech invoking the strength and blessings of Ma Durga and Ma Kali will always be with you and the rest of India.

"We are celebrating Durga Puja in times of COVID-19, all devotees have shown exemplary restraint. The number of people might be less but the grandeur and devotion are the same. The happiness and joy are still boundless. This is the real Bengal."
