PM Narendra Modi is likely to visit Chennai next month at the invitation of Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi Palaniswami. There are four major central and state projects which the PM will be inaugurating. In principle, the PMO has accepted Palaniswami's invitation but the date of the PM's visit will be decided after discussions with the Tamil Nadu government.

Palaniswami had sent an emissary to personally deliver the invitation letter  to the PM.

This comes soon after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the state.  In fact, when the HM visited Chennai, both EPS and his deputy OP Panneerselvam met him and asked him to intercede on their behalf with the PM to visit Tamil Nadu. Shah is also said to have kept his promise.

Sources say that during the PM's visit a poll campaign will will be discussed. The state is heading to the polls next year.
