Navy on standby as 'Nivar' approaches

Indian Navy ships, aircraft, helicopters, diving and disaster relief teams are currently on standby as cyclonic storm Nivar approaches the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall at around midnight or the early hours of November 26.

Chennai is witnessing a spell of heavy rainfall and strong winds ahead of Cyclone Nivar's landfall, expected in the early hours of November 26.
