Delhi Deputy Chief Minster Manish Sisodia called on all governments to come together as a "team" to fight the double whammy of the rise in coronavirus cases and air pollution. Manish Sisodia said that it is a problem that plagues the whole of North India and not just Delhi. Manish Sisodia also ruled out any possibility of schools reopening anytime soon saying that as a parent he would not send his kids to school unless he was sure they would be safe.

"States need to forget their politics and come together as a team," Manish Sisodia told India Today TV, adding that in the Tuesday morning meeting between PM Narendra Modi and chief ministers, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal requested the prime minster to take the lead on the issue.

Manish Sisodia said that the root cause of Delhi's recent rise of Covid-19 cases lay in stubble burning as it pollutes the air, leading to an environment that is not conducive for the fight against the novel coronavirus.

Refuting speculation that the Delhi government was looking to reimpose a lockdown in the capital, Manish Sisodia said, "Lockdown is not a solution... today, a lockdown won't stop the coronavirus."
