The Ministry of Home Affairs has has today allowed the movement of stranded students, migrant workers, tourists, pilgrims, etc. via special trains. States and Railway Board will make necessary arrangements, a statement said. The MHA reiterated to all States that no separate passes are required for through traffic of trucks and goods carriers, including empty trucks etc. 

The union health ministry in its briefing today said, "There is a total demand of 75,000 ventilators. A total of 19,398 ventilators re available and 60,884 ventilators have been ordered."

The health ministry also said that State and district administration must ensure through focused efforts that 'Red' and 'Orange' zone districts, break the chain of transmission through effective and stringent containment measure.

Dr Rajesh Chandran, Sr Divisional Commercial Manager,Southern Railways,Trivandrum said yesterday the railways was informed it will be the prime mode of transport for taking migrants back to their states. A train is starting from Aluva to Bhubaneswar today, with a capacity of 1140 passengers, he said.
