4 cops hurt in gunfight when Dubey tried to flee

On the encounter that broke out between the STF and the gangster, Kanpur SSP said that the vehicle escorting Vikas Dubey overturned after which he got out and snatched the pistol of one of the wounded cops and tried to escape.

Firing took place and Vikas Dubey was shot at, the SSP said.

Four policemen have also been injured, the SSP added.

SP Kanpur, speaking to ANI, said, "Gangster Vikas Dubey attempted to flee after the car overturned. Police tried to make him surrender, during which he fired at the policemen. He was injured in retaliatory firing by police. He was later rushed to the hospital."

The gangster was declared dead by hospital authorities.
