India''s COVID-19 positivity rate at 6.73%

The coordinated efforts of the Centre and state governments to effectively manage the COVID-19 pandemic in the country has resulted in reduced COVID-19 positive rate in the country.

The national coronavirus positive rate stands at 6.73 per cent, as per the ministry of health and family welfare on June 6. 

Further, the tests conducted per million population in the country is at 6,859.

The Centre has emphasised on increasing testing, prompt contact tracing and timely clinical management of the cases. It has also helped the states to significantly ramp up testing capacities.

At present, there are eight states and Union territories, as on July 5, with their "Positivity Rate" lesser than the national average and tests per million higher than the national average.

Puducherry with 5.55 per cent coronavirus positive rate and 12,592 tests conducted per million population is in the list, along with Chandigarh (4.36 per cent), and Assam (2.84 per cent) are the states/UTs included in the list.

Apart from the three, Tripura (2.72 per cent), Karnataka (2.64 per cent), Rajasthan (2.51 per cent), Goa (2.5 per cent), and Punjab (1.92 per cent) also feature in the list.

Goa with 44,129 tests conducted per million population tops the chart.
