Roger Federer, the world number 3 and six-time champion at the Australian Open, has managed to claw his way into the semi finals of the tournament after his victory against America's Tennys Sandgren.

Federer battled past the American in five thrilling sets -- 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.

During his win, Federer uncharacteristically was given a warning for an audible obscenity on court. Federer's language was picked up by the line judge near him and the chair umpire, Marijana Veljovic, issued a warning for the same. She told Federer that the line judge clearly heard him cuss.

Soon after the incident, Federer also took a medical timeout.

Federers run in the tournament has been far from a cakewalk. He looked supreme beating Steve Johnson and Filip Krajinović but got out of jail in a fifth set tiebreak against John Millman before dropping the opening set to Mrton Fucsovics.
