On a two-day visit to West Bengal, PM Modi is launching the interactive light and sound show at Howrah Bridge. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar are also present at the event.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee in a meeting with Modi at Raj Bhavan had urged that he reconsider the recent amendment to the Citizenship Act. "I told the PM that people in Bengal are not accepting the NRC (National Register of Citizens) and CAA. You should reconsider it. He has said I am here for other programmes so he asked me to come to Delhi for the meeting," Banerjee said after the meeting.

During his visit, the prime minister will dedicate to the nation four refurbished heritage buildings in Kolkata -- the Old Currency Building, the Belvedere House, the Metcalfe House and the Victoria Memorial Hall. The Culture Ministry has renovated these iconic galleries and refurbished them with new exhibitions while curating the old galleries. Modi will also participate in the sesquicentenary celebrations of the Kolkata Port Trust on Saturday and Sunday.
