Iran's Ayatollah says slap in face delivered to US

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that a 'slap in the face' has been delivered to the United States today. His remarks come as the Islamic republic fired missiles at US troop bases in Iraq on Wednesday.

He made the remarks in a broadcast live on state television.

The Ayatollah had vowed "severe revenge" for a US drone strike that killed one of Iran's top military commanders near Baghdad international airport last week.
