Crime branch at JNU, probe into violence begins

The Delhi Police Crime Branch team arrives at Jawaharlal Nehru University to investigate the January 5 violence at the university.


The Delhi Police on Monday transferred the case related to the violence at JNU to its Crime Branch even as two top officials of the premier institute met LG Anil Baijal to apprise him about the prevailing situation there, officials said. Police officials have started collecting evidence and will talk to students.

Primary investigation into the violence on JNU campus has revealed that activists and volunteers belonging to both Left-aligned student unions and ABVP were involved in the attack and intruders from both camps had entered JNU with their faces covered.
