Muzamil Pasha, an SDPI leader has been arrested by the Bengaluru police in connection with DJ Halli police station limits violence, an Social Democratic Party of India, spokesperson said.

Three people were killed in police firing in Bengaluru and 60 police personnel injured as violence broke out in the city on Tuesday night over a Facebook message posted allegedly by a relative of a Congress MLA. 

110 people have been arrested for violence, stone-throwing and assault on police personnel.

Protesters set many vehicles on fire and surrounded MLA Srinivas Murthy's house in the city. Murthy's nephew Naveen, who allegedly posted the message on Facebook, has been arrested.The police lathi-charged and tear gassed the crowds.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said the 'attack on the residence of MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy and the DJ Halli police station and riot are condemnable'.

'Already given directions to initiate stringent action against the criminals (and) the government has initiated all the measures to contain violence,' he said.

The attack on police, media persons and common citizens was unpardonable. The government will not tolerate such instigation and mischief, he added.

On Tuesday night, irked by the social media post, hundreds of people went on a rampage and set DJ Halli police station on fire.
