India reports highest single-day spike of 64,399 cases

India on Sunday reported a record single-day spike of 64,399 COVID-19 cases, pushing country's tally to 21,53,010, according to the Union health ministry data.

The death-toll climbed to 43,379 with 861 people succumbing to the infection in 24 hours, the data showed.

At the same time, the number of patients who recuperated from the disease surged to 14,80,885.
