A Bihar police official was arrested and dismissed from service for an objectionable post on coronavirus on social media. Santosh Kumar, an ASI posted in Navanagar police station in Buxar district, was sent to judicial custody on Monday.

Buxar SP Upendra Nath Verma said Kumar was arrested on the directive of Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey.

According to the police, soon after Kumar posted the image along with a communal comment in the group, it was re-posted by former JD-U leader Sambhu Patel in Sonvwrsha police station's cyber senami group (cyber warriors group) that went viral. Patel has also been arrested.

A district police official said a cyber senani group was created for immediate service to people but this group was turned into a platform for entertainment.
