US chef prepares special NaMo thalis for Modi

A Houston chef has prepared a special menu for Prime Minister Narendra Modi which would be offered at the hotel in the United States where he is staying to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

While no special request has been made by the prime minister, Chef Kiran Verma would be preparing special NaMo thalis (plates) to serve PM Narendra Modi during his stay in the United States.

There will be two types of NaMo thali - NaMo thali mithaai and NaMo thali sewri. All the food will be prepared in desi ghee. The menu for PM Modi also has varieties of chutneys.

While the NaMo thali mithaai will have shrikhand, rasmalai, gajar ka halwa, badaam halwa, the NaMo thali sewri will have khichdi, kachori and methi thepla.

Chef Kiran says that food from different states and cities will be prepared for PM Narendra Modi. Chef Kiran Verma said that this was the first time she was cooking for PM Modi.

Prime Minister Modi on Friday left for a seven-day long visit to the United States with an aim to boost bilateral ties. PM Modi will be in the United States from September 21 to 27.

The prime minister's schedule includes multi-lateral engagements, interaction with the business community, bilateral meetings and also an address to the Indian diaspora at the "Howdy, Modi" event in Houston.

PM Modi's "Howdy, Modi" address will be followed by a luncheon meeting with elected officials and a community reception at NRG Stadium.
