EC to announce Maha, Haryana polls at noon today

The Election Commission of India is set to announce dates for Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections at a press conference at 12 noon today.

Polling in Maharashtra and Haryana are likely to be held before the Diwali on October 27, media reports said.

The model code of conduct will be come into effect in the two states post the announcement of polls today.

In 2014, the elections in Maharashtra and Haryana took place in October.

The Bharatiya Janata Party won in both states with with 122 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly, and a majority for the first time in the 90-member Haryana assembly. -- with inputs from ANI
