India asks Pak to allow use of air space for PM's flight to US

India has formally requested Pakistan to allow use of its air space for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight to New York, US. Pakistan to respond after consultations, reports Pakistani media. Pakistan has closed its airspace to India in the aftermath of the abrogation Article 370. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is flying to the US on September 21. The following day, he and US President Donald Trump will be jointly addressing 'Howdy, Modi', a rally in Houston for which over 50,000 Indian-Americans have registered. 


The White House has confirmed President Donald Trump's participation at the event that is being organized by the Indian diaspora. 


The Houston event will be Modi's third major address to the Indian-American community after he became the prime minister in 2014 and the first after his re-election in May.


Modi will then visit New York from September 23, where he will address the 2019 Climate Action Summit hosted by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He will return home on September 27.
