Iranian foreign minister's concern over Kashmir

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed concern about the conditions in Kashmir at a meeting with India's Foreign Secretary Vijay Keshav Gokhale.


Gokhale had travelled to Tehran for meetings with the Iranian foreign ministry. Zarif expressed concern about the condition of  Kashmiris and hoped for an improvement in the situation in the state.


"We have good relations with the Government of India, but the Indian government is expected to adopt a fair policy towards the noble people of Kashmir, so that this region's Muslim people would not be oppressed,"  Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had stated earlier on August 21.
