Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut said that party chief Uddhav Thackeray has given his consent to become the chief minister of Maharashtra.

Earlier, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar said in Mumbai that there is consensus in the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance that Thackeray should lead the new government in Maharashtra.

"The issue of leadership is not pending. There is consensus on Uddhav Thackeray leading the new government," Pawar said.

The state was plunged into a political crisis after the Sena broke its three-decade-long ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party after the latter declined to share the chief minister's post.
