Prime Minister Narendra Modi today thanked the voters of Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, for "reposing faith" in him by addressing them at the Pundit Deen Dayal Hastakala Academy. Earlier in the day he had performed rituals at the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple along with BJP chief Amit Shah.

Here are the highlights from his address:

>>  I had spoken to workers of Varanasi. All of you had ordered me that I can't set foot in Varanasi for a month. The nation might elected me as the PM but for you, I am a worker. For me, your order was the priority

>> After the campaign, I used to think of coming here but I used to recall your orders. Your hardwork was the reason for it. I was relaxed so I went to Kedarnath

>> I am grateful to the opponents who fought against me

>> Maths was defeated by chemistry, but there is no alternative to hard work
