In Goa, as senior leaders of the BJP, including PM Modi converge, there is little to suggest that the state's chief minister has passed away. Uninterrupted traffic, shops open, people going about their everyday lives peaceably. There is police bandobast on Goa's roads in anticipation of VIP movement and the tricolour is at half mast on the Panaji, but other than that there are no disruptions -- unusual in a country where violence is the norm when a leader passes away.

Truly a remarkable tribute to an unusual politician, a leader without the affected airs of office.

Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar you will be missed.
