The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested three accused -- Parveez A Wani, Javid Y Dar and Subzar A Kumar -- for their role in the theft of seven rifles and a pistol from the official residence of former People's Democratic Party MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir almost six months ago.

The trio had provided logistical support to SPO Adil Bashir Sheikh (attached with ex-MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir) and his associates who fled away with 7 AK rifles and the ex-MLA's personal pistol on September 28, 2018.

They will be produced in the Special NIA court in Jammu on Wednesday for seeking police custody for further investigation and unearthing the larger conspiracy.

"It was found that SPO Adil Bashir Sheikh and his associates Yawar Ahmad Dar and Rafique Ahmad Bhat had taken away the weapons as part of conspiracy hatched by Kashmir-based top leadership of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen," the NIA siad.

NIA had earlier arrested Rafique. Adil and Yawar are still absconding.  -- ANI
