Praveen Chakravarty, chairperson of the data analytics department of the All India Congress Committee, has issued a signed statement that allegations against him in a section of the media , that he misled the Congress leadership of the election outcome, and also charged Rs 24 crores from the Congress for his work, were a total lie and baseless.

Praveen, a Tamilian Iyengar and not a Bengali as many believe, is a close relative of N Gopalaswami, former chief election commissioner, and known to K P Krishnan, IAS officer who is presently secretary in the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.

Praveen, who is also closely associated with the Aadhar project, was brought into the AICC by Jairam Ramesh, and Karti Chidambaram who he had known through the tenure of his father P Chidambaram as Union finance minister.

'My department and me continue to function from the offices of the All India Congress Committee headquarters, as usual,' Praveen states in his press statement.
