Yeddyurappa to stake claim to form govt today

In what could be the culmination of the political crisis in Karnataka, BJPs state unit chief B S Yeddyurappa will meet the Governor on Friday morning where he is likely to present his claim to form the government.

Yeddyurappa said, "I am going to meet the Governor today at 10am to stake claim to form the government and I will request him to hold oath ceremony today itself."

Meanwhile, Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Thursday disqualified three rebel Congress MLAs under the anti-defection law.

The move had heightened the suspense over government formation exercise in the state two days after the collapse of the Congress-Janata Dal-Secular coalition.
