The Congress party's Siddaramaiah says that the discussion on the trust vote is still not complete and 20 members are yet to participate. "I don't think it will finish today and it will continue on Monday also," he said.

Just before the Vidhan Soudha adjourned till 3 pm, the ruling Cong-JDS coalition questioned Governor Vajubhai Vala's power to issue a direction to hold the  floor test by 1:30 pm.

With the Karnataka CM citing a Supreme Court verdict that a Governor cannot act as ombudsman of Legislature he said he would not criticise the Governor and requested the Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar to decide whether the Governor can set a deadline.

As the treasury bench objected to the Governor's direction, Congress members shouted slogans, "Go back Governor."

When the 1:30 pm deadline ended, BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa stood up and pressed for division of votes moved by the Chief Minister.

The Speaker said there was a process to be followed and the motion would be put to vote, if pressed for, according to rules after discussion. Amid bedlam, the House was then adjourned till 3 pm.
