At least three teams of the NDRF, fire brigade, the BMC's disaster management team as well as all senior officials of the MCGM are on the site, the BMC said. "Rescue work is in progress & we request citizens to cooperate with the authorities," the BMC said.

The access to the building is very narrow and no JCB cranes can be commissioned here. Each slab of concrete is being picked up with bare hands to look for anyone trapped in the debris. Locals say the building was at least a 100 years' old. Five people have been rescued so far, with two people confirmed dead.
