Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee , who took the stage in the end at the opposition's mega rally, said this wasn't the time to speculate on the united opposition's prime ministerial candidate.

"We will figure that out later. The need of the hour is to defeat Narendra Modi and the BJP," she asserted.

Banerjee said that the BJP was finally on the backfoot after "looting" the country for years, and their achhe din will not be back no matter what promises they make.

"A new government will be formed at the Centre. It is inevitable. Their expiry date has come. This is people's verdict," Mamata said.

She further said, "The Modi government is past its expiry date and in the coming days, a new dawn will descend. We will work together and it's a promise."
