Tamil Nadu farmers leader Ayyakannu, who along with other farmers from the state shocked Delhi with their protests with dead rats in the mouth and other headline-grabbing gimmicks, was back in Delhi today.

Ayyakannu told Rediff.com, "Farmers of 29 states met in Delhi today to petition the central government to write off our loans and also give us remunerative prices for our products. If they don't do that, the least they can do is promise us that no farmer's land will be confiscated till the Lok Sabha elections and that no coercive action will be taken against any farmer."

They have also petitioned Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he said. "We have told him that we will not accept partial write-offs of a lakh or two lakh rupees. We want a total write-off."

Their next plan of action is a daylong fast in Delhi at the end of this month.

"On that day 300 farmers from Tamil Nadu will stand with a noose around their neck. We call it the suicide protest," he said.

Apart from this they plan to visit every state to campaign against the ruling party during the Lok Sabha elections due in May this year.
