HP man volunteers to be hangman for 'Nirbhaya' killers

As the Ministry of Home Affairs receives the mercy plea of a convict of the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case after it was rejected by the Delhi government, a man in Himachal Pradesh volunteers to be hangman. 


Ravi Kumar, from Shimla has written to President Ram Nath Kovind to appoint him as temporary executioner in Delhis Tihar Jail as there is no executioner there. He said, "Appoint me executioner so Nirbhaya case convicts can be hanged soon and her soul can rest in peace."


The Delhi government on Sunday recommended the rejection of the mercy petition of one of the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case. Thereafter the petition was placed before the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi for consideration and subsequently was sent to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
