Made in havan: Sonia, Smriti bow to rituals

UPA chief Sonia Gandhi sat down to a 'havan' ahead of filing her nomination from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency. With her were also Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The havan took place at the Congress party's office in Rae Bareli. She will then go on a 700-metre road show before filing the nomination. Sonia is trying to retain the seat for the fifth time. Even during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sonia made it a point to sit down to a havan. Read the story here.

Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani also performed a 'puja' ahead of filing her nomination from the Lok Sabha seat in Amethi where she is pitted against Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Her husband Zubin Irani was also present at the 'puja'.
