PDP to boycott panchayat, local body, polls in Jammu and Kashmir scheduled from next month, says party chief Mehbooba Mufti. Holding a press conference this afternoon, Mufti said the centre must review its decision on holding the polls. She said the sword of 35A is hanging over our heads.

The National Conference has also decided to stay away from the local body polls, the Peoples Democratic Party led by Mehbooba Mufti on Friday decided to boycott upcoming municipal and panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Supreme Court deferred the hearing on a bunch of petitions challenging Article 35A of the Constitution, as the Centre urged the Court to take up the matter after panchayat elections in the state.
